Who Am I?
My name is Garrett Butts, I am from Gunnison Colorado, and am currently a member of the Alaska Pacific University Elite Ski Team, where I am also a full time student. I am unashamedly consumed by my passion for sporting excellence in cross country skiing but enjoy this pursuit wholeheartedly. During most hours in a given day, I live, eat, sleep, and breath for the sport.
History
Growing up, my family spent a lot of time in the outdoors, hiking, fishing, biking, hunting, camping, etc. I took part in all things sport, from track to bmx biking. I have been skiing for as long as I can remember. When your Mom is a 3 time Olympian, and your Dad is a former Olympic and NCAA level coach, skiing came naturally. In my earlier years, I wanted to be a professional soccer player, but as time went on, my dreams as a cross country skier became a big focal point of my life.
Off The Snow
When I am not training and competing, I spend most of my time either working to pay for school and skiing, or going to school. When I am home in the summer, I work for Tenderfoot Outfitters taking clients on horseback day rides, overnights, and fishing / hunting trips. As far as school is concerned, I am working towards a degree in the realm of sports science. All those things aside, I love to spend time with friends and family, and generally be outside. Through all of this, I strive to inspire others to chase their dreams, and put their best foot forward in all aspects of life.
